Many communities had booster clubs which included bands.  Besides those pictured, Tillamook, Bay City, and Wheeler also had city booster club bands.  Sometimes the bands would gather and have concerts as a form of friendly competition.  This was one way of showing off the town they represented and to attract business development.

The top photo was taken before 1912 in Beaver, a small town named after the rodent.  It is an unincorporated community on Highway 101 on the Nestucca River, 12 miles south of Tillamook.  Like Nehalem, it became a vibrant small community.  The Eastman Wilson Company of Beaver advertised as a discount general variety store.  There was also a mercantile, church, post office, lumber company and, of course, farming and dairy.
